What limited resources are consumed in the construction of a shelter?
A 12' by 12' structure uses the equivalent of 25 to 30 gallons of crude oil which is converted primarily to the fire proof resin which strengthens the fiberglass skins. One may ask the question, "What is the best use of a limited resource such as crude oil"? We would ask, "What better use than for the construction of a durable insulated home that will last for decades"? If it were simple choices, you could use 30 gallons of crude to propel a vehicle 500 miles, or you could build a durable home - A home which saves heating energy (usually firewood and kerosene), because of its improved insulating characteristics. The homes being replaced in most instances, have no insulation and are often just steel sided shacks.

If the world used our valuable oil resources for the production of critical synthetic materials, and produced its energy by alternative means, the benefits would impact the earth in so many measurable ways. Electricity, home heating and vehicle propulsion can easily and competitively be accomplished by means other than fossil fuels, and with no CO2 production.
